All About Us.
Hello, we are Willow Tree Alpacas, a family run, start-up business in Woodham Ferrers, Essex. We are a small, dedicated team currently caring for a herd of six lovely boys. They’re gentle, curious, and full of character, and we’re excited to share their lovely nature with you. We offer a range of unique outdoor experiences for couples, families and groups of friends who enjoy spending time in nature and love animals. These include alpaca walking with tea and cake, meet-and-greets and bring-your-own picnics. You can find full details of all our experiences on our What We Offer page (hyperlink).
We’ve always shared a love for all creatures, whether furry, fluffy, or feathered, and for as long as we can remember, we’ve dreamed of owning a smallholding filled with a variety of farmyard animals. But for the longest time our reality was a little more modest, and consisted of a few back garden chickens at our semi-detached home in Benfleet and we thought that might be as far as it would ever go. But then an opportunity came along and we purchased a piece of land in Woodham Ferrers. And then a couple years later, with a truly amazing stroke of luck, were able to buy the house right next to it too. Now, in spring 2026, that long-held dream has finally become the reality, and Willow Tree Alpacas is opening to the public
A big part of our dream is helping people reconnect with nature, slow down, and step away from the pressures of everyday life. Spending time outdoors and with animals is known to boost mood, encourage relaxation, and reduce stress and anxiety. It can be especially beneficial for children and those with special educational needs, and we’re passionate about offering a calm, supportive environment where everyone can feel comfortable and thrive. If you’re part of a community that may benefit from a more tailored experience, please feel free to get in touch—we’d be happy to discuss your needs.
Animal welfare is always our top priority. We strive to ensure that all our animals have everything they need to keep them happy, healthy and safe. Which includes having strict bio-security in place to prevent the spread of harmful viruses, bacteria, pests and diseases. We are members of the British Alpaca Society (BAS) and have completed (animal husbandry course title here).
As well as our alpacas we also have our ever so characterful rescue hens. They are rehomed commercial laying hens enjoying their retirement but they still produce eggs which can be brought at our farm gate. Our oldest two hens have recently celebrated their 5th anniversary with us which is simply amazing!
Our ducks are rehomed as well from a family who brought them in the first Covid lockdown but were not able to continue to care for them. They are all boys so no eggs from them but they are of course still valued members of our little farm.
You may see a black and white cat when you visit, she is our family pet but absolutely loves being out in the fields. She’s also a rescue and she’s very nervous.
We’d love to see you at one of our experiences, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send us an email at willowtreealpacas@hotmail.com
